I realize for most families getting away for 5 days in the summer is hardly historic, but for us it was a first. When you own a construction company summer time is precious work time. We are very lucky to be able to zip off to a nearby lake most weekends, but extended time away has never happened before. So enjoy the pictures of our first "5 day camping trip" as Brenna named it!
Loaded up at last! It takes 2 vehicles to get our gang to the lake this year. With Joshua's addition we no longer all fit in the truck!
We stopped at Burger King for lunch and Joshua experienced his first playland. He loved it!
His big sisters had fun too. Mom is not a fan of fast food, so it had been a long time since they have played at a burger joint.
The kids all brought along their bikes. Joshua had not ridden his bike outside of the house so I had not bought him a bike helmet yet. He had a solution... the 4-wheeler helmet!
It was a hot week so we had fun at the swim beach. Thanks for the tubes Grammy!
Joshua loves the water and I was excited for him to be able to further develop him balance and strength walking in the water. It worked for a few minutes, and then...
Krissy came to the "rescue"! She just loves to play with him. After Joshua knew someone would help him in the water he definitely worked the system. But I guess that is what babies do best?!
What is a swim beach without burying someone in the sand?
The sand was WAY hot. I do not know how Sierra could stand it, but as always she came out smiling!
The older kids all had fun exploring the trails in the campground.
S'mores... we did break to eat! But ONLY to eat!
This was the BEST part of being at the lake. After a couple years of trying, Jamison is officially a wakeboarder. He popped right out of the water and immediately figured out how to "cover his skins" (pull his shorts down so his white thighs were covered) just like the pros.
You know you are the real deal when you have a hot boat with a pretty girl following you and taking your picture while you board! (This is Uncle Jeremy's famous boat and Auntie Teresa filming. They have helped Jay learn and were excited to see his success when they joined us on the water Saturday!)
So, my son went from not being able to get up to crossing the wake
cutting back and forth
he even tried a jump and got some air (Teresa has that pic.) It was amazing to watch him progress! We are so proud of you Jamison!
Look close at Sierra's hair... yep the lake was a little green this time of year!
Joshua waited ALL weekend to get to ride on Uncle Jeremy's boat. When Teresa and Jeremy got there Friday night he told us "Joshua no Daddy's boat! Joshua Jeremy's boat!" Sunday we all piled onto Jeremy's boat. The kids LOVE it because they can jump, dive, kick, and swim off the deck on the back.
Our Ethiopian water beetle thought he should go all the way in like his sisters... luckily he was satisfied with Daddy "dunking" (really dipping) him.
Sierra trick jumping.
Love it when sisters get along!
oops... got this one twice
Uncle Jeremy let Joshua drive his boat with Daddy's help. Did you know Uncle Jeremy's boat has a horn? Oh boy was that a big hit! Joshua is still talking about it!
Only 2 more weekends before school, football, cheerleading, and the chaos of fall begins... they will most definitely be savored at a nearby lake. Can't wait until Friday!
