Shopping for our "Gena" Kids

I spent the morning shopping at Wal-mart with 5 kids and we had a blast!

We had a super time filling our cart with gifts to send our ProjectGena2010 kids! If you do not remember about ProjectGena 2010 you can read my original post by clicking here.

Here we are at home sorting through all the goodies we purchased. We bought each of he kids socks, unders, soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, some sort of school supplies, some hard candy and gum, and a few just for fun items like matchbox cars and nail polish.

Jamison with his carefully packed and purchased bag for 8 year old B.A.

Sierra with her gifts for A.T. a 13 year old girl in Addis Ababa. In her letter to A.T. Sierra wrote, "We love you and the country you live in."

Sweet Brenna with her presents for 9 year old M.T. I hope M.T. can feel Brenna's joy radiating from this picture. She loved this project!

And Joshua Gebeyehu with his eyes bright and his face so smiley ready to send American "treasures" to 6 year old B.A. in rural Ethiopia. Made me teary with joy and gratitude all morning that our Joshua is with us.

My older four kids wrote short letters to "their" Ethiopian friend. They put quite a bit of thought into these letters, it was really fun to watch. I am so proud of their huge hearts and the way they tried to communicate love and hope to children half a world away.

We packed it all up with a prayer:
Father God, thank you for all the things you have blessed us with. Please use these gifts as blessings to the children that we bought them for. Fill these children with hope and peace. We hope they feel our love and Yours as they use these gifts. Thank you for our Joshua. Thank you that you brought him to our family. Bless his country God. And continue to guide our family as we strive to serve you wherever and however you may call.

It was the best morning I have had in a long time!
