Hunting Boots

The best part of hunting season may just be...
 new boots!

Today was the opening day for youth pheasant hunting, and because our boys have grown sooooo much in the last year, we started the day shopping for new hunting boots!
There are my boys, ready to hunt!
Can you believe how tall Jamison is becoming?!
Today it was only legal for Jamison to carry a gun, but next year Sierra will be hunting too!  She loves hunting and goes with every chance she gets!

Riley was in golden retriever heaven when they all headed through the CRP, shotgun on Jay's shoulder, looking for birds.
With all the rain this summer, the CRP is tall and thick.  Walking is hard, so
JOshua and I "helped" kick up birds from the road!

Joshua really, really wanted to go hunting with Daddy and Jay.  He was so thrilled to be able to walk "with" them.  I was thrilled because he walked on his own the whole way!  He has gotten so strong!  Even 6 mo. ago I would have needed to carry him home, today we raced!

Unfortunately, Jay did not even get one shot this morning.  They saw many hens, but not a single rooster.     Hopefully he will have better luck next weekend when he joins his Dad, uncles, Grandma, and Great Grandpa for the "real" opener!
