Got Mercy?

This is a photo that makes me smile each morning as I start my day. It is B. The boy that we sponsor in Ethiopia. He is wrapped in the blanket his "American sisters" made for him.

This is our B. receiving the blanket we made for him along with a letter from our family and a photo of us. I love this picture. I love that B. knows we care about him. I love that we are able to write him letters of encouragement. I love that when I see his sweet face each day, I remember to pray for him. I love knowing that when we chose to sponsor him, we made his life just the smallest bit better!

I also love what our relationship with B. does in the hearts and minds of my kids. They love him. They talk about him and wonder about him, especially on special days like Thanksgiving or Easter. They look forward to writing him letters or drawing him pictures. Having a "brother" in Africa makes them more aware of the plenty they have AND the lacking of others.

In the picture above, Sierra is preparing a gift for B. that will be delivered in June. We bought him a small sketch book. In several places in the book, our kids drew pictures and wrote notes of love and encouragement to B. They are so proud of this gift. They can hardly wait for him to receive it.

I tell you all this about our relationship with B. because I would like to invite you to sponsor some children of your own.

Wouldn't you LOVE to have one of these kids be a part of your family?

Wouldn't you LOVE to know that you are making their life just a little bit easier?

These children are all orphans. They live in the Dale woreda of the Sidama zone in Ethiopia, the very same "county" as our Joshua was born in. They need your help.

Your sponsorship will provide your chosen child with clothing, shoes, school supplies, a school uniform, and education. (School is not free in Ethiopia.) Your sponsorship will also provide your chosen child's foster family with a stipend to help them provide nutritious food and care for the basic needs of your sponsored child.

My favorite thing about this sponsorship program is that they are very focused on forging relationships between the sponsor and the child. I was told the founder of this program has said, "It is very important to him that these children know that someone somewhere in the world CARES for THEM!" I was so moved by those words, because they echo my heart. I sponsor kids because I CARE ABOUT THEM. They matter to me. I want them to have a chance.

In fact, this sponsorship program is so serious about relationships that they send your child a photo of YOU and a letter all about YOU as soon as you commit to their sponsorship. I remember waking up one morning knowing that B. had received our photo and letter (via email) overnight. I was so excited thinking that HE knew about us!

In addition, you will receive monthly updates about what is happening in this program. You will receive updated photos of your child. You will be able to write letters to and receive letters from your child. You could also travel with a team to Dale to meet your child and serve for a short time in his/her community.

To read more about FOVC and the work they are doing in Ethiopia, you can check out there website here.

Soooo.... just how much will this cost you? Just $35 a month!

Now, I know that gas costs $4 a gallon. I know groceries cost more each and every time you shop. (trust me, I know!) I know the economy stinks.

I ALSO know that I waste more than $35 each month on things I really do not need. And these children really are in need, not want, IN NEED. I KNOW that $35 to sponsor my B. in Ethiopia goes oh so much farther than the $35+ I spend on the things I really do not have to have here.

So, want to sponsor one of these kids?

Please?

Email me with any questions or to let know which child you would like to support at aliciad(at)bis(dot)midco(dot)net. I can hardly wait to hear form you!
