A Month of Wonder: Bowling Buddies

Today Joshua (finally) celebrated his birthday with his buddies.  He chose a bowling party.  We waited until today to host it because his daddy had been busy hunting and such.  But, he says it was worth the wait!

Here are a few snapshots of the day.

Yep, that's a cell phone you see.  What first grader has a phone?  This one, I guess!
It certainly kept them all entertained between bowling turns.

Sierra, Chad, and Hunter were my helpers today.
The little guys certainly loved keeping Sierra entertained.
The boys were too strong to use the ramp - but it was great entertainment between things.

 Sierra's face says it all!

First grade boys have looooooooottttttttttssssssss of energy!

Joshua saved the "seat of honor" next to him for Hunter.  Hunter is Sierra's boyfriend - but Joshua may just like him even more than Sierra does.  (OK, so not really . . . but it comes close.)  Hunter is always so kind to Joshua.  They play baseball, soccer, dart gun wars, etc.  Joshua insisted on giving Hunter an invitation to his party, and Hunter was kind enough to come and participate with Joshua's friends. Having Hunter there was one of the highlights of Joshua's day.

SO - in all honesty hosting birthday parties for children is not on my list of favorites - but it is important.  Joshua felt so special today.  He did a great job greeting each boy and remembered to thank each one as he left.  He has grown so much in so many ways.  That should be celebrated.

I stand in awe and wonder tonight that a little boy from Sidama, Ethiopia calls me mom, just celebrated his 8th birthday with a bowling party, dough nuts and ice cream, and is currently sleeping upstairs.  God's plan is so amazing.  So unfathomable.  So much more than I could ever imagine.
